So many great holiday events around Cobb County this month that we wanted to share a few that we have talked about this week!
“A Christmas Carol“- Theatre in the Square (11 Whitock Ave., Marietta); 3 p.m. & 8 p.m. Cost is $20 adults and $10 for kids. “A timeless story comes to life on stage. Ebenezer Scrooge, obsessed with solitude and greed, collides in a nightmare with his own youth and his lost love. Scrooge is visited by the spirits of Christmas Past, Christmas Present, and Christmas Yet to Come in scenes that flow rapidly from one to the next, activated by the setting. The visiting spirits of Christmas force Scrooge to confront people and scenes from his life that remind him of his friendlessness. Finally, he awakens to the reality of Christmas morning and discovers the joy of giving, loving, and caring for others.”
“A Christmas Tradition“- Earl Smith Strand Theatre (117 North Park Square, Marietta); Every Sunday, Thursday and Friday from December 17th through December 20th. Tickets are $25. A holiday song & dance spectacular!
“Christmas Royal Tea & Grand Yuletide Ball“- Earl Smith Theatre (117 North Park Square, Marietta); December 12, 13, 19 & 20th. “Treat that special starry-eyed child in your life this holiday season at The Strand! Children (and their guests, too!) are encouraged to dress up for the special occasion. Ticket includes a gift bag of goodies for our young guests that include an autograph book to commemorate the afternoon with Christmas Royalty and new friends.”
“Atlanta Symphony Orchestra: A Very Merry Holiday POPS!– Kennesaw State University (1000 Chastain Rd., Kennesaw); Friday, December 18th at 8 p.m. at the Bailey Performance Center, Morgan Hall. “Atlanta’s favorite holiday tradition comes to Kennesaw State! ASO Principal Pops Conductor Michael Krajewski leads the orchestra in exciting performances of everyone’s favorite holiday classics. Local high school choral ensembles will join the orchestra for this special performance.”
“Garden Stories- In Holiday Mood“- Smith Gilbert Gardens (2382 Pine Mountain Rd., Kennesaw); Wednesday, December 16th at 10:30 a.m. “Come to the gardens, warm up in the brick room of the Hiram-Butler House. Have a sip of hot chocolate, a winter snack and listen to some cozy winter stories. All participants will make an ornament from nature materials to take home.”
“Holidays at The Avenue“- The Avenue- West Cobb (3625 Dallas Hwy, Marietta); Wednesday, December 16th from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. “Enjoy complimentary horse drawn carriage rides, holiday music and visits with Santa at The Avenue!”
“Holidays at The Avenue“- The Avenue- East Cobb (4475 Roswell Rd., Marietta); Friday, December 18th from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. “Enjoy complimentary horse drawn carriage rides, holiday music and visits with Santa at The Avenue!”
“Lights of Life“- Life University (1269 Barclay Circle, Marietta); December 1st through December 31st from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Admission is $10. “Lights of LIFE was introduced by Life University in 1989 as a gift to the local community. Talk of the Lights of LIFE spread quickly, given the location, quality and low cost. As the most affordable holiday light show in the Southeast, the Lights of LIFE holiday light display has become a yearly tradition. Now nearly half a million spectators from the surrounding region cruise through the spectacularly illuminated campus annually! New displays are added, and the entire arrangement is unique each year. There are so many great holiday events in the local area between now and the end of the year to keep us all busy! Any of these items will make for a fun outing and there are several great places to dine in these areas at the Square and around the Avenues, so time to have some fun!
